make art, hang out, strengthen resolve
[ONGOING] SECOND SATURDAYS -
free entry -- 7-11PM
feeling raw and exposed to new horrors everyday? bleak outlook in the end times? well, no wonder, shit has hit at the proverbial airboat fan and I figured we needed a resolve strengthener.
I've taken the liberty of calling up some friends and asked them to bring their art and words to the stu for a swamplover’s party so we might remind ourselves there is goodness still, generally appearing when the people come together on common ground ✨🌿

portion of sales to friends of the everglades
we raised a total of $427 after fees. this was my first time leading a fundraiser of this kind, and at 10% of sales it's hard to make a ton, but I think we did alright :-) we're working on a raffle system lol...
we are thinking of doing this seasonally but we are open to monthly if it's what the people want.

Discovery Spot! Permanent Installation at MODS
What a fun project this was! At the end of 2022, STEAM Edu Director, Aruna Ragbir, called me with a request to make a physical recreation of the Museum of Discovery and Science mascot, “Spot the Orange”, for donors to glaze themselves at the annual donor reception in January 2023. Aruna and I worked together at Young at Art Museum prior to the pandemic and so I was excited to hear from her and ready to get to work. Once I sculpted the first Spot, I made a plaster mold of the original sculpture and pumped out nearly 50 Spots for the generous crowd.
We had a great time at the reception, where donors entertained their inner child with this joyously significant gift of gratitude from MODS. Spot represents one of the original exhibits of the museum, the Orange Grove (one I loved dearly as a kid).
The Spots are on view as a permanent installation in the Discovery Spot! at MODS in Fort Launderdale, FL.

The Center

Afterschool Art at Hollywood Central Elementary
Kids and clay is always an interesting dynamic. I see a lot of pancakes, bits and pieces, snowmen, penguins, etc.
It's hard to tell them what to do (maybe more so, I don't like to be authoritarian about it) so I like to encourage details by asking kids what they might be feeling about their animals, how their creation sits, walks, communicates, etc.
Sometimes, if I'm lucky, kids take my suggestions, too.

The Hive

The Hive Anniversary Party (july 2024)
went on a lil field trip back in July '24 ~ celebrated one year of creativity with The Hive @thehivemia, a teen-oriented art + collaborative space (and first of its kind in dade county!). we only had 45 mins to make 🤠 so we made textured snack plates, in between button-making, bass noodling, and other fun things.
this was so very sweet!! grateful to have been a part of this, stoked to finally be in a position where I can just… bring some pottery to the people (and in this case, the teens — I was pretty sure they liked it even though they didn’t say much… quiet in the art room is a good thing, no?)
the art room is a Blessed Space, at least it was for me so this is a mission that is dear to my heart. art spaces are Good and Necessary for human beings and keeping art accessible is a major part of why i do what i do anyway, and supporting these sweet people and their art-centered, community initiatives is a no-brainer, immediate, “absolutely yes!” sort of thing.

AARP Maker’s Nights
a short but sweet fossilized flowers workshop at the museum of discovery and science with @aarpsoflo 🌱🐊 it was on a thursday in october at 5:30pm (on the dot!) when 26 ladies and one husband all poured in to the mods maker’s space and got right to work imprinting some fresh slabs with a variety of native flora and fauna (and some false monstera for aesthetics).
huge thank you to Joe and Aruna for the invite, the MODS education team for all your assistance with organizing and set-up.

Art and It’s Meaning (A.I.M)

AIM Fundraiser 2024
In early October 2025, I was lucky enough to assist some old friends who started their own non-profit arts organization [Art and Its Meaning]. We made ornaments and wall decor for their first annual fundraiser 🩷
